Four years ago, on 10 June 2021, the skies above Montenegro marked a new chapter in national aviation. The first regular commercial flight of Air Montenegro from Podgorica to Belgrade signified much more than an ordinary takeoff - it was a symbol of return, resilience, and the belief that Montenegro deserves a reliable, national carrier to represent it with dignity across the world.
Today, four years later, Air Montenegro is much more than an airline. It is the story of every kilometer traveled, every passenger transported, and every new bridge built between our country and the world.
Founded in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, in February 2021, the company managed to launch operations in just three and a half months. The first charter flight on the Podgorica-Sarajevo route was carried out on 1 June, with the first passengers being members of the Montenegrin national football team traveling to a match with the national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

After the cessation of flights by the previous national carrier and a six-month break, regaining the trust of passengers and partners was a challenge, but it was overcome through professionalism and the great dedication of employees. During its first year of operation, most traffic was handled by a single aircraft in the fleet, an E95 with 116 seats, which transported about 110,000 passengers on five scheduled destinations - Belgrade, Banja Luka, Ljubljana, Frankfurt, and Istanbul. In the following year, two E95 aircraft operated throughout the entire year, while a leased A320 aircraft with 180 seats joined the fleet during the summer season. Approximately 360,000 passengers were transported, and scheduled traffic was maintained to 11 European metropolises. The destination network was expanded to include Zurich, Paris, Nantes, Lyon, Copenhagen, and Prague, while charter flights connected Montenegro with the Baltic countries, Egypt, Georgia, and other hubs.

The growth of trust continued into the third year of operations, during which we welcomed our millionth passenger and connected Montenegro with 15 destinations. In 2023, the company transported 475,000 passengers and recorded its first positive financial result, ending the business year with a profit of 3.5 million euros, confirming the sustainability and justification of the existence of a national airline. The fleet included, alongside the two Embraer 95s, a leased Airbus A320. The year was marked by Air Montenegro’s membership in the International Air Transport Association (IATA), through which the company was assigned the two-letter code 4O, the recognizable symbol of our brand on the ground and in the air. In addition to certifying compliance with strict safety and security standards, membership in IATA opened numerous opportunities for Air Montenegro to engage in commercial cooperation with other airlines.

The fourth year of operations marked continued growth in passenger numbers, revenue, and the destination network. Nearly half a million passengers were transported, and flights were established to Baku and Izmir. The fleet included four aircraft - two company-owned Embraer E195s, one leased Embraer 190, and one Airbus A320.
Over four years of existence, Air Montenegro has transported more than 1.6 million passengers, conducted 19,000 flights, generated over 160 million euros in revenue, and connected Montenegro with more than 20 destinations across Europe and the region.
Air Montenegro's current operations are carried out with two company-owned Embraer 195s and one leased Embraer 190. Starting this season, the fleet will be joined by another aircraft, to be acquired under a multi-year lease, further enhancing the capacity and flexibility of the network.

Looking toward the future, Air Montenegro remains committed to continuously improving services, expanding its network, and strengthening its presence in the international market, while preserving its identity and closeness with domestic passengers. Proud of all that has been achieved, and with gratitude to every passenger and partner, we remain committed to flying high - with responsibility and heart.
